IFCA MESSAGE BOARD

On June 16th and 17th at Franklin Central High School, Football University will be having its Indianapolis Football Camp for all athletes 6-12 grade.

In 2018 alone, FBU will be hosting over 20 Regional Camps in cities across the country, with the focus being to help student athletes hone their craft on-the-field with position-specific technique/safety training and film room review sessions.

Additionally, I wanted to highlight a few key notes surrounding the camp:

Coaching Staff is comprised entirely of Former NFL Players & Coaches
This is a non-padded camp, but OL/DL need to bring helmets (if possible) – all campers should bring cleats, shoes and mouth guard – FBU will supply shorts, shirts & cinch bag
FBU focuses on technique, mechanics, safety and position specific training – not 7v7 competition, etc. – the camp places a premium on teaching the kids, not just evaluating them
FBU will have the kids enter into some competition with other campers as each camp day progresses in order for them to implement the skills being taught, but the 1v1, 4v3 and 7v7 based activities are not the focal point – they are complementary pieces to the techniques and skills being taught
This camp offers in-depth film review during the camp – before/after practice sessions with their position specific coach. NO other camp has this type of film review session (parents are invited to this as well)
FBU offers the boys a direct 1on1 evaluation at the end of the camp with their position specific coach – they will review in-depth how he performed and what he needs to improve on moving forward (parents are invited to this as well)
The Camp will have scouts from FBU Top Gun, All-American Bowl, National Combine and Freshman All-American Bowl in attendance to evaluate the boys for long-term growth – not to just scout them for one additional bowl game
FBU will be inviting representatives from scouting/recruiting services (247 sports, etc.) and non D-1 College Coaches to watch Saturday’s Camp Day – the college representatives will host an open house / recruiting fair that evening for all attendees
Meals will be provided on-site for the boys
FBU also highly encourages parents to stay around for the entire day – they welcome this experience and have things for parents to do as well (special segments, speakers, etc.)
The camp runs from 8-7pm on Saturday and 8-4pm on Sunday – nearly 20 hours of elite coaching/education in a two-day span

Head Football Coach

West Washington will be hosting our annual 7's/11's on Saturday, July 21st.

I would like to see if any teams are interested in participating. We will guarantee each team 3 games of 7's. 7's will be 25 minutes in length with a running clock. Once the 7's have concluded, we will have a period of 11's. Each team will be guaranteed 2 periods of 11's that will be 50 minutes in length. We will play 12-15 plays on one side of the ball and then switch once we have reached the set number of plays. We will wear helmet and shoulder pads. There is no entry fee to participate. I encourage you to invite your parents and there will not be an admission cost for the fans. I will have concessions that day and ask that you utilize our concessions stands. We will start at 10am EST. In order to comply with the 3 1/2 hours of competition and 5 hours on site, we will be finished by 3pm. We can accommodate up to 16 teams. We have the ability to run 4 fields at one time. We will be utilizing 40 yard fields for both 7's and 11's. Based on the teams that would like to participate, I will do my best to pair teams up that are equal in size. If we have enough team, I will do my best so that you will not play the same team twice during the day.

We will also offer an inside run period that will take place during the 7 on 7 period. Not all teams have participated in this in the past. I will check with the teams leading up to July 21st and see who would like to participate in the inside run period. Once I know what teams will be participating in the inside run period, then I will set up times for teams to compete. That will be a 30 minute period. We have enough space to run 4-6 periods at once during the 7 on 7 period.

The NCAA’s outreach and education efforts related to initial-eligibility continue to remain in full swing. These efforts focus on both Division I standards for college-bound student-athletes enrolling on or after August 1, 2016 and Division II college-bound student-athletes enrolling on or after August 1, 2018. The following materials, which have been made available to high school and non-scholastic athletic communities, also may be valuable to your colleagues, as they look to assist students and parents with the initial eligibility, recruiting and college selection processes. Please visit NFHSLearn.com and take 30-45 minutes to complete the Initial Eligibility course. This course will familiarize you and your colleagues with the new academic requirements, as well as the required NCAA Eligibility Center registration and certification process for college-bound student-athletes.
